Former Cebu City mayor Michael Rama can no longer run in elections after the Commission on Elections (Comelec) First Division granted a petition disqualifying him from the 2025 polls.
In its November 11 resolution, the Comelec cited the Ombudsman’s previous decision finding Rama guilty of nepotism and grave misconduct—offenses that carry the penalty of dismissal and perpetual disqualification from government service.
The disqualification stemmed from a petition filed by Jundel Bontuyan, a registered voter from Barangay Adlaon, Cebu City.
