The 1st Davao Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (1st DOcPMFC) successfully facilitated the turnover of a Barn Owl (Tyto alba) to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) following its voluntary surrender by a local resident.
The wildlife was discovered trapped in a rope inside a chicken enclosure and threatened by crows. It was temporarily cared for by 34-year-old business owner Mr. Djoseph Cawayan before coordinating with authorities for its proper turnover.
Malita, Davao Occidental, February 19, 2026 – Personnel of 1st DOcPMFC, led by PCpl Noeh Jay M. Duran under the supervision of PLTCol Exzur B. Relatado, ensured the safe endorsement of the owl to DENR Davao Occidental. The owl was formally received by Foresters Ronald E. Go and Ana Liza L. Go for assessment and disposition in accordance with wildlife protection protocols.
The 1st DOcPMFC, under the Philippine National Police, reiterated its commitment to environmental protection and reminded the public that illegal collection, possession, transport, or trade of wildlife without proper authorization is punishable under Republic Act No. 9147, the “Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.”
