Air quality conditions across Metro Cebu showed varying but improving levels on Sunday, May 24, according to the Environmental Management Bureau in Central Visayas (EMB-7).
Based on monitoring data gathered from the agency’s station in Talisay City, which reflects air conditions across the metro, fine particulate matter or PM2.5 was recorded at “fair” levels with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 70.
According to EMB-7, PM2.5 refers to tiny airborne particles that may affect human health, especially among individuals with respiratory conditions, children, and the elderly when exposure becomes prolonged.
Meanwhile, coarse particulate matter or PM10 was recorded at “good” levels with an AQI of 37, indicating cleaner outdoor air quality in several areas across Metro Cebu.
EMB-7 said the improving air quality may be influenced by weather conditions, wind movement, and other environmental factors affecting pollutant concentration in the atmosphere.
The agency also assured the public that continuous monitoring of pollution levels across Metro Cebu remains ongoing to ensure that necessary advisories and updates are immediately released whenever needed.
Authorities continue to encourage the public to remain mindful of environmental practices that help reduce pollution and improve overall air quality in urban areas.
