Don Macchiatos introduces four Vietnamese-inspired coffee drinks at P59

Don Macchiatos is bringing Vietnamese-inspired coffee flavors to Cebu with four new drinks priced at P59 each, expanding its menu while maintaining its focus on affordability.

Launched on Tuesday, October 20, the new lineup features Salt Coffee, Coconut Coffee, Iced Milk Coffee and Iced Black Coffee.

DMGC Chief Operating Officer Ariel Alegado said the company partnered with Trung Nguyen Legend Corporation and Saigon Star by Vinamilk to introduce the new offerings, using coffee products from Trung Nguyen and condensed milk from Vinamilk.

Representatives from partner Vietnam suppliers flew to Cebu to attend the launch, held at the coffee chain’s flagship store along P. Del Rosario Street, beside Sto. Rosario Church.

“I am very excited to announce, yes, it’s official…and we are very excited to to let the Filipinos to taste the product we are already using it for our products,” Alegado said.

The drinks use Trung Nguyen Robusta beans and the traditional Vietnamese phin filter, which brews coffee through a slow-dripping process.

Coconut Coffee combines coffee with a creamy coconut component and desiccated coconut toppings, while Salt Coffee pairs strong coffee with a lightly salted creamy topping.

Iced Milk Coffee blends brewed coffee with sweetened condensed milk, while Iced Black Coffee offers a stronger flavor without milk-based sweetness.

At P59 per cup, the new drinks cost P20 more than Don Macchiatos’ familiar P39 coffee offering.

Alegado said affordability remains a priority as the company expands its selection using ingredients sourced through its partnerships.

“We really try our best to serve and provide our fellow Filipinos quality and affordability,” he said.

He attributed the pricing strategy partly to the company’s exclusive partnership with its coffee supplier, which he said gives Don Macchiatos access to the main source of Trung Nguyen coffee.

Alegado said he selected Trung Nguyen after visiting Vietnam several times and sampling different coffee products.

He also cited the smooth communication between the companies as a factor in the partnership.

Founder Marc Anthony Abangan, meanwhile, highlighted the importance of working with authentic Vietnamese brands to bring Vietnamese coffee flavors to the Philippine market.

The launch also coincided with the unveiling of the flagship store’s refreshed design, which draws inspiration from Vietnam’s relaxed, streetside coffee shops.

Don Macchiatos plans to expand the availability of the four drinks to more branches once staff training and product stocks are in place.
