The development of the area into a top tourist destination started a few years ago when the provincial government partnered with several national agencies that eventually lead the locals to transform their main economic livelihood from agricultural to eco - tourism. The area is now managed by former fisher folks and farmers through a cooperative and the supervision of the local government.
