CEBU CITY, Philippines — Several local government units (LGUs) across Cebu have suspended face-to-face classes on Friday, July 10, following the reported volcanic ashfall caused by the recent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.
According to the Cebu Provincial Government – Capitol PIO, the following 32 LGUs have declared the suspension of classes:
1. Danao City — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
2. Carcar City — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
3. City of Naga — Public Schools, All Levels
4. Talisay City — Public Schools, All Levels
5. Mandaue City — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
6. Consolacion — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
7. Santa Fe — Classes suspended until further notice
8. Compostela — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
9. Liloan — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
10. Cordova — Public Schools, All Levels
11. Argao — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
12. Toledo City — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
13. Dumanjug — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
14. Aloguinsan — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
15. Dalaguete — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
16. San Fernando — Classes suspended until further notice
17. Sibonga — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
18. Tuburan — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
19. Catmon — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
20. Minglanilla — Public Schools, All Levels
21. Bantayan — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
22. Balamban — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
23. Ronda — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
24. Sogod — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
25. Pinamungajan — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
26. Carmen — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
27. Barili — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
28. Madridejos — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
29. Alcantara — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
30. Ginatilan — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
31. Alegria — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
32. Santander — Public and Private Schools, All Levels
In addition, Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City have also announced the suspension of classes for the day, bringing the total number of affected LGUs to 34.
Local authorities continue to monitor the effects of the volcanic ashfall and are urging residents to take necessary precautions, including wearing face masks, limiting unnecessary outdoor activities, and staying updated through official government advisories.
