Cebu’s entertainment landscape is gaining momentum as more concerts, sporting events and large-scale productions are finding a home in the city, giving audiences in the Visayas and Mindanao greater access to major events.
The growing lineup reflects Cebu’s emergence as more than a tourism and business destination, with the city developing venues capable of hosting productions that previously required audiences to travel to Metro Manila.
One of the newest additions to the city’s entertainment scene is the SM Seaside Cebu Arena, which opened at the South Road Properties (SRP) and hosted two major concerts in July — BINI’s Signals World Tour on July 11 and IV of Spades’ Andalucia Tour on July 18.
The venue’s calendar remains busy in the coming months, with TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan’s In Between concert set for Sept. 5, followed by Hillsong Worship Nights Asia Tour on Sept. 18, Yeng Constantino’s Biyaheng Bente 20th Anniversary Concert on Sept. 20, and Bida Sa Arena: The Rematch, a celebrity basketball game, on Sept. 26.
International and family entertainment will also be part of the lineup, with LANY’s Soft World Tour scheduled for Nov. 6 and 12 and Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance! from Nov. 28 to Dec. 6.
The arena is also scheduled to host the 2027 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in July 2027, bringing eight national teams to Cebu for the continental basketball competition.
The addition of new venues comes as the SRP continues to develop as a major destination for commercial, leisure and entertainment activities.
The area around the arena is also seeing the expansion of mixed-use developments that could bring together dining, retail, hospitality, business and entertainment.
South Coast City, which is taking shape beside SM Seaside City Cebu, is expected to add to the mix as development progresses.
Planned facilities include the SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu and the dual-branded Park Inn by Radisson and Radisson Hotel.
The developments could further expand Cebu’s capacity to accommodate conventions, business gatherings, tourists and large-scale events, creating more opportunities for visitors to combine entertainment with dining, shopping and leisure activities.
For local audiences, the growing event calendar means more concerts, sporting competitions and family shows are being staged closer to home.
It also gives Cebu another avenue to attract audiences from neighboring provinces and other parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
The continued addition of venues and events reflects the changing character of Cebu’s entertainment industry, as the city builds a broader calendar of productions alongside its established tourism, business and cultural attractions.
With more developments progressing across the SRP, Cebu’s entertainment scene is poised to become an increasingly visible part of the city’s evolving urban landscape.
