Carbon Market vendors, workers, consumers and other concerned Cebuanos marched from Carbon Market to Cebu City Hall on Tuesday, August 25, in a mobilization led by the Save Carbon Public Market Movement (SCPMM).
The group called for the termination or rescission of the Carbon Market Joint Venture Agreement (JVA) between the Cebu City Government and Megawide/Cebu2World, citing concerns raised in the Commission on Audit’s 2025 Annual Audit Report.
SCPMM clarified that its campaign is not against modernization, but seeks to ensure that Carbon remains a public market, vendors’ livelihoods are protected, and public assets are used with accountability.
