Cebuanos can now report damaged, flooded, obstructed or hazardous roads through a new provincial reporting system as the Cebu Provincial Government strengthens monitoring and response to road concerns.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro signed Executive Order No. 51 on Sept. 14 creating the Cebu Provincial Roads Task Force (CPRTF) and establishing a province-wide road monitoring, reporting and response mechanism.
Residents, motorists, barangays, local government units and other stakeholders may report road concerns through call, text or Viber at 032 888-2328 loc. 1028.
Reports may also be sent to peo.cebu@gmail.com or submitted through the provincial government’s online reporting portal at report.ourcebu.org.
The system is intended to provide the public with a direct channel for reporting road and bridge conditions that may threaten public safety or disrupt mobility.
Under the executive order, the CPRTF will inspect and assess roads and bridges, maintain a Provincial Roads Monitoring Database, validate reports from the public and recommend appropriate interventions for damaged, unsafe, obstructed, flooded or otherwise hazardous roads.
Reports will be validated through field inspections and other appropriate methods, including photographs and geotagging.
The task force will coordinate with the concerned LGU, barangay or government agency when a reported road falls outside the provincial government’s direct jurisdiction.
The CPRTF will serve as the provincial government’s principal coordinating, monitoring and rapid-response body for concerns involving provincial roads and bridges.
It may also facilitate monitoring, referral and response support for concerns involving national, city, municipal and barangay roads, although responsibility for these roads will remain with the appropriate government office or agency.
Baricuatro will chair the task force, while the Provincial Engineering Office will serve as its secretariat and technical lead.
The executive order also encourages component cities, municipalities and barangays to designate road focal persons who can coordinate with the CPRTF on reported concerns.
The order took effect immediately upon signing.
The provincial government urged the public to use the designated reporting channels so road concerns can be documented, validated and referred to the appropriate office for action.
