A 43-year-old former inmate was shot dead outside his residence in Barangay Guiwanon, Argao, Cebu on Friday evening, Sept. 25, with police identifying four persons of interest in the ongoing investigation.
The victim was identified as Roland Artiaga Resurection, a single resident of Sitio Balandia who had previously been confined at the Abuyog Penal Farm.
The shooting occurred at around 6:45 p.m. in Sitio Balandia, according to the initial police report.
Resurection was reportedly outside his house, eating and talking with another person, when two men on a motorcycle arrived in the area.
Police said a witness identified as Edgar, 35, the victim’s nephew, reported that the motorcycle’s back rider allegedly drew a firearm and fired several shots at Resurection.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and fell to the ground.
Edgar reportedly hid for his safety during the shooting, while another person identified in the initial report as Albo fled from the area.
The two motorcycle riders then allegedly sped toward the mountainous portion of the barangay. Police said the initial report contained no plate number or other distinguishing details of the motorcycle.
Resurection was brought to Isidro Kentanar Memorial Hospital for medical attention after the shooting.
The Argao Municipal Police Station received a telephone report about the incident at around 7:25 p.m. Police personnel then proceeded to the area and conducted an initial investigation.
Police identified four persons of interest in connection with the shooting: aliases “Boter” Milan, “Dave” Sarona and “Mat” Ricarda, as well as Albo.
Milan was reportedly from Sitio Tonggo, Barangay Guiwanon; Sarona from Barangay Taloot; Ricarda from Sitio Balandia; and Albo from Barangay Langub, all in Argao.
The police station also requested assistance from Scene of the Crime Operations personnel to process and examine the shooting scene.
Police have launched hot-pursuit operations to identify, locate and apprehend those responsible for the killing.
