LTO 7 orders motorcycle rider, Ceres driver to explain viral road clash

A motorcycle rider and a Ceres bus driver involved in a viral road altercation in Talisay City have been ordered to explain their actions and surrender their driver’s licenses for preventive suspension, the Land Transportation Office 7 (LTO 7) said.

The agency issued Show Cause Orders against the two drivers after a video circulated online showing a heated confrontation in front of Robinsons in Talisay City, including footage of the motorcycle rider spitting at the bus driver.

LTO 7 said its initial review of the video prompted the orders as authorities work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Honda ADV motorcycle and the Ceres bus involved have also been placed under alarm status while the agency conducts administrative proceedings.

The investigation remains ongoing, and LTO 7 has yet to determine whether either driver will face administrative sanctions.

The Show Cause Orders require both drivers to explain their actions. The preventive suspension of their licenses is intended to take effect pending the investigation, according to the agency.

The issuance of the orders does not automatically establish administrative liability. Authorities will assess the available evidence to determine whether either driver violated applicable rules and regulations and whether further action is warranted.

LTO 7 reminded motorists and professional drivers to exercise discipline, professionalism and respect toward other road users, stressing that road disputes should be resolved peacefully to avoid endangering others or disrupting traffic.

The agency said it would continue the necessary proceedings in accordance with existing rules and regulations.
