Cebu City reports no major incidents during Kalag-Kalag 2026

Cebu City recorded no major incidents during this year’s Undas observance, prompting the city government to declare its Operation Kalag-Kalag 2026 successful.

Mayor Nestor Archival announced the outcome on Monday, Nov. 2, thanking government offices and partner agencies that took part in the city’s security and public assistance operations.

“Happy to announce that Undas 2026 and Operation Kalag-Kalag concluded successfully, with no major incidents reported,” Archival said in a statement.

He recognized the contributions of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO), Department of Social Welfare and Services (DSWS), PROBE, Department of Public Services (DPS), Building and Electrical Office (BEO), and Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CCDRRMO).

He also thanked the city’s anti-mendicancy team, Public Order and Protection Office (POP), Mayor’s Office staff, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), force multipliers, barangay officials and tanods, as well as the Office of Councilor Paul Labra.

“One Cebu City team, working for the safety of every Cebuano!” Archival said.

He said the operation reflected the city government’s commitment to public safety and service during one of the busiest periods for cemetery visits.

Separately, the CCPO reported zero crime incidents across the city on Sunday, Nov. 1, during the observance of All Saints’ Day.

More than 1,000 police personnel were deployed across Cebu City to secure cemeteries, memorial parks, major roads, commercial establishments and other areas where people gathered.

The police also used drones to monitor cemeteries and major convergence areas, with aerial operations coordinated through the command center.

The system allowed commanders to monitor crowd movement and traffic conditions while coordinating with personnel on the ground.

The drone operations complemented foot and mobile patrols, traffic management and security inspections conducted ahead of the peak Undas period.

The deployment was intended to address public safety concerns as families visited cemeteries and memorial parks to remember their departed loved ones.
