Taga UC ni Bai! Maka proud jod! Angyl Fayth Ababat, a second-year nursing student at the University of Cebu-Banilad, honored by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO)

On Monday, January 30, 2023, in downtown Cebu City, a woman was slashed in the neck during a heated altercation with her live-in partner, Edwin Salazar Lumacad. The person who appeared in the widely circulated CCTV video was Angyl Fayth Ababat, a second-year nursing student at the University of Cebu-Banilad. They complimented her for having the strong will to save the victim after the offense. Ababat has then received acclaim from netizens and their actual friends who are present.

She claimed that the worry running through her mind was that Bernadita Zamora’s position would get worse if she didn’t get help. She wanted to make sure the victim was in good hands despite the potential risk, such as the assailant coming back.

Ababat did not expect the attention she got after the footage went viral. Not only her university praised her, but the authorities planned to mark her outstanding deed. She will also be honored by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) on Monday, February 6, at their flag-raising ceremony. In a teleconference with the media, police colonel Ireneo Dalogdog stated that the department wants to commend the woman’s heroic acts and bravery in preserving the life of the fruit vendor.
