In the wake of the powerful earthquake that shook Cebu on September 30, countless families in the northern towns were left grappling with loss, displacement, and uncertainty. Rising to the call of compassion, Proud Bisaya Bai, spearheaded its own donation drive to extend much-needed support to those affected.
Through the generosity of supporters and partners, the group was able to raise ₱74,723 in donations. With these funds, they prepared and delivered 300 relief packs containing food and essential goods to the barangays of Tabogon—Barangay Labangon, Barangay Kal-anan, and Barangay Little Ilihan.
The relief mission also extended to Medellin, Cebu, where volunteers continued their efforts despite long hours on the road. “Huge thanks to my amazing team, Proud Bisaya Bai, for the successful donation drive and distribution yesterday in Tabogon and Medellin. Despite the heavy traffic and long hours on the road, we remained full of energy and smiles because nothing compares to seeing the grateful faces of our fellow Cebuanos who were affected by the earthquake. Your dedication, heart, and service make me proud every single time. Padayon ta sa pagtabang,” PBB Founder Ariel Alegado said.
This initiative would not have been possible without the generosity of their brand donors: Zion Philippines, Don Macchiatos Philippines, MATLEX, Labelled, L. Mercado Agri-Farms, Don Lemon Philippines, and MGS Philippines – Cebu. Their compassion and commitment truly embody the spirit of bayanihan, showing how businesses and communities can work hand in hand in times of crisis.
For Proud Bisaya Bai, the mission was not just about handing out supplies but also about showing solidarity and reminding survivors that they are not alone. The initiative highlights the strength of unity in the Bisaya spirit, ordinary citizens coming together to make an extraordinary impact. While the road to recovery for the affected families may still be long, efforts like these prove that compassion and collective action can help communities rise stronger from tragedy.
