A six-month-old baby rescued from floodwaters in Barangay Jubay has become a symbol of hope for many Cebuanos grappling with the aftermath of Typhoon Tino.
Vice Governor Glenn Soco shared that he personally witnessed the rescue in Villa Lara, one of the hardest-hit areas in northern Cebu, where several families were trapped on rooftops as deep floodwaters rose.
Soco said the infant’s survival reflects the resilience and spirit of the Cebuano people, expressing optimism that the province will soon recover from the disaster.
He added that rescue teams also checked nearby Colorado Homes subdivision, where residents were similarly affected by severe flooding.
“Mga Sugboanon, padayon ta sa pagpakalig-on. May utlanan kining pagsuway nga atong nasinati karon. This too shall pass,” Soco said.
