Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro on Tuesday visited Talisay City to inspect the effects of Typhoon Tino, focusing on communities displaced by flooding at the mouth of the Mananga River.
She was joined by Mayor Samsam Gullas during the assessment.
Mayor Gullas reported that search and rescue efforts have been concentrated in barangays Biasong and Dumlog, where the river meets the sea.
He also appealed to the governor for support in post-typhoon rehabilitation, particularly livelihood programs to help affected families recover and rebuild.
At the Talisay Sports Academy evacuation center, 1,088 residents from 262 households are currently taking shelter, according to Joel Sisa, chief of the city’s Emergency Operations Center.
Relief efforts, including food and essential assistance, are ongoing for displaced families.
