Sinulog 2026: Cebu’S Grand Spectacular Celebration Of Faith, Culture, And Devotion

CEBU CITY — The #Sinulog2026 and #461stFiestaSeñor is set to ignite the streets of Cebu with faith, color, and tradition. This world-famous festival honors the Holy Child Jesus (Santo Niño) and commemorates the conversion of the Cebuano people to Christianity in the 16th century. Known for its vibrant street dances, elaborate costumes, grand parades, and solemn religious processions, Sinulog draws thousands of devotees, tourists, and cultural performers from across the Philippines and the world.

The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu (BMSN) has released the general schedule of activities for this year’s festivities:

• Pre-Fiesta Señor Activities: December 27-28, 2025, and January 3-7, 2026 — includes community events and preliminary religious activities.

• Opening Salvo: January 8, 2026 — marks the official start of the main celebrations.

• Novena Masses: January 8-18, 2026 — nine days of prayer and devotion leading up to the Traslaciones.

• Traslaciones: January 15-16, 2026 — the solemn transfer of the image of the Santo Niño to different parishes and communities.

• Visperas Day: January 17, 2026 — the eve of the main Fiesta Señor, featuring religious and cultural events.

• Fiesta Señor: January 18, 2026 — the main feast day, highlighted by grand processions, street dances, and masses.

• Adlaw sa Hubo: January 23, 2026 — the ceremonial return of the Santo Niño to the Basilica, concluding the festivities.

The BMSN has also released the official routes for major processions, including the Walk with Mary, Walk with Jesus, Traslaciones, and the Solemn Foot Procession. Devotees and participants are advised to follow the designated routes to ensure safety and an organized celebration.

Authorities urge all visitors and pilgrims to plan ahead, respect traffic guidelines, and participate respectfully in both the spiritual and cultural activities. Sinulog 2026 promises to be a spectacular celebration of Cebu’s faith, heritage, and vibrant community spirit.
