Residents of Central Visayas can now access government services more conveniently with the opening of the Bagong Pilipinas eGovPH Serbisyo Hub in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Implemented by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the facility acts as a physical counterpart to the eGovPH mobile application, which was designed to streamline and speed up transactions with various government agencies.
According to DICT Central Visayas Regional Director Frederick Amores, Cebu is the first area outside Metro Manila to establish a one-stop government services hub under the eGovPH system.
Several national government agencies are currently operating at the hub, including the Anti-Red Tape Authority, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Health, Philippine Statistics Authority, Social Security System, Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Department of Labor and Employment, and Department of Agriculture.
The DA also features its Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, offering agricultural products and highlighting the Benteng Bigas Meron Na, or P20 rice initiative of the national government.
Amores said the hub addresses common public concerns, such as long queues and being turned away due to incomplete requirements.
Through the eGovPH application, clients can set appointments in advance, ensuring they will be accommodated upon arrival.
Documents can also be uploaded beforehand, allowing agencies to review them and notify clients if any requirements are missing prior to their scheduled visit.
“This system prevents wasted time and unnecessary trips, especially for residents coming from distant areas,” Amores said.
“By the time clients arrive at the hub, their documents are ready, making transactions faster and more efficient.”
While the hub complements existing government offices, Amores clarified that clients may still transact directly with agencies.
He encouraged the public to use online services whenever possible, noting that digital transactions remain the most efficient option.
For those unfamiliar with mobile applications, DICT personnel are on hand to assist.
eGovPH Serbisyo Hub operations leader Jesra Polinar said the DICT continues to invite more national agencies to join the hub to strengthen its goal of becoming a true one-stop shop for government services.
The Bagong Pilipinas eGovPH Serbisyo Hub began operations on December 12 and is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Fridays.
As an eGovPH-exclusive facility, clients are required to book appointments through the eGovPH application by installing the app and creating a verified account.
While many services are available online, some still require physical presence, which the hub is equipped to accommodate. (VCL)
