The vibrant spirit of Sinulog filled the streets of Barangay Pasil as residents and devotees gathered for Sinulog sa Pasil 2026 on Saturday, January 17, marking one of the most anticipated community-based celebrations in the city.
Revelers carried images of the Señor Santo Niño while dancing through water-splashed streets, moving in rhythm to the steady beat of drums and chants of “Pit Señor.” The celebration showcased the deep-rooted devotion of the community, blending faith, culture, and joyful expression that have defined the Sinulog tradition for centuries.
Sinulog sa Pasil is known for its grassroots character, highlighting the participation of local residents, youth groups, and dance contingents who proudly present their faith through energetic street dancing and symbolic movements. The water splashing, a signature element of the celebration, added to the festive atmosphere as dancers and spectators alike embraced the tradition with enthusiasm.
Beyond the revelry, the event served as a reminder of the enduring faith of Cebuanos in the Santo Niño, emphasizing unity and resilience within the community. Despite challenges faced by the city, the celebration reflected a shared sense of hope and devotion.
As part of the 461st Fiesta Señor, Sinulog sa Pasil continues to stand as a testament to Cebu’s rich cultural heritage and the unwavering faith of its people, proving that the true essence of Sinulog lives on in local communities.
