Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon called on newly graduated engineers and young Filipinos to apply for positions at the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and help address corruption within the agency.

Dizon made the appeal during the first DPWH Campus Job Fair held Wednesday at Mapúa University in Intramuros, which drew over 300 student-applicants.

He described the opportunity as a “golden” chance for young engineers to be “part of the solution.”

“Because that’s what we need. We need more people to join us and try to solve all these problems,” Dizon said at the opening of the job fair.

“But we need you. We need to remove the rotten eggs and we need to bring in fresh blood,” he added.

The initiative is part of the department’s ongoing reforms under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who earlier instructed the DPWH to recruit young professionals to fill 2,000 vacant positions.

Following Mapúa University, the job fair will also visit other universities in Metro Manila, including Ateneo de Manila University, University of Santo Tomas, De La Salle University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, and the University of the Philippines. (with PNA report)
