A routine delivery booking turned into an emotional encounter for a woman in Cebu after learning how far her rider had traveled for a ₱40 fare.
The booking, made through ride-hailing platform Maxim, was for an item pickup in Basak, Mandaue City. What the customer did not realize was that her rider, identified as 40-year-old Annabele, had come all the way from Lapu-Lapu City, near the old bridge.
After waiting for about 30 minutes, the rider arrived visibly out of breath but still smiling. Despite the delay, Annabele thanked the customer for not canceling the booking.
Curious about her decision to accept such a distant and low-paying trip, the client asked why she pushed through.
“Okay ra ma’am… maayo nalang pang puno sa amo panihapon,” the rider replied, explaining that even a small amount would help add to their dinner budget.
The response struck a chord. Moved by Annabele’s dedication and humility, the customer and her companion handed her an additional ₱200 as a tip.
“Small amount for us, but hopefully it helped even a little. Sometimes we don’t see the struggle behind every delivery. Please be kind. Always,” the woman later shared.
The story, which was shared by Ibagscebu PH, has since resonated with many netizens, reminding the public of the unseen sacrifices delivery riders make daily to support their families.
