Families of drug war victims, together with support groups and human rights advocates, gathered in Cebu City on Friday night, February 27, for a solemn justice watch event honoring those killed during the administration’s anti illegal drugs campaign under former president Rodrigo Duterte.

Participants lit candles and offered flowers in remembrance of their loved ones, calling for accountability and justice. The ceremony served both as a memorial and a collective expression of solidarity among families who continue to seek redress for the deaths linked to the controversial drug war.

The gathering coincided with the final day of hearings at the International Criminal Court to confirm charges of crimes against humanity filed against Duterte. The proceedings form part of the ICC’s ongoing judicial process examining allegations related to thousands of deaths associated with the anti drug campaign.

Organizers emphasized that the event was peaceful and centered on remembrance, justice, and the protection of human rights. They reiterated their call for due process and accountability, underscoring the continuing impact of the drug war on affected families and communities.
