Where classrooms once lay in ruins after September 2025’s 6.9-magnitude earthquake, new Learning Continuity Spaces (LCS) now stand, offering students a safe place to learn.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited Marcelo B. Fernan–Polambato Elementary School in Barangay Polambato on Monday to inspect the prefabricated, modular classrooms, which were deployed to address critical shortages caused by the disaster.

Each P1.65-million unit is made of durable steel and features solar power, internet connectivity, and a toilet, providing a secure learning environment designed to minimize educational disruption.

Another LCS facility was also constructed at Binabag Elementary School in Barangay Binabag.

At the same time, the Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) Caravan served 200 beneficiaries, including students, teachers, and residents, providing free medical consultations, laboratory tests, and essential medicines.

Participants were also assisted with PhilHealth registration and record updates to support early disease detection.

Earlier this month, Marcos and Education Secretary Sonny Angara inspected LCS installations in Masbate schools affected by Typhoon Opong, including Paniqui National High School in Barangay Panique, Aroroy, and additional facilities in Calolod Elementary School, Electo T. Verano Elementary School, B. Titong High School, Asid Integrated School, and Luy-A Elementary School.

Angara said the climate-resilient structures can be installed within two weeks and reflect the administration’s proactive approach to disaster preparedness and school safety, ensuring continuity of learning even in disaster-prone areas.
