Traditional and modern jeepneys are now permitted to use designated lanes of the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) system following approval from the Department of Transportation Central Office.
The move aims to improve traffic flow and provide more efficient transport options for commuters in Cebu City, as authorities continue to roll out and optimize the CBRT system. By allowing jeepneys access to selected BRT lanes, transport officials hope to ease congestion on major roads while maintaining accessibility for public utility vehicles.
Officials clarified that the policy will be subject to guidelines to ensure the smooth operation of the CBRT, particularly in maintaining priority for buses and ensuring commuter safety. Monitoring and adjustments are expected as the integration progresses.
The development comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the public transportation network and address daily commuting challenges in the city.
