The Bangsamoro Darul-Ifta’ has officially announced that the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted during the latest moon sighting, paving the way for the completion of 30 days of Ramadan in the Philippines.
According to Bangsamoro Mufti Sheikh Abdulrauf Guialani, the decision follows the standard Islamic practice of confirming the lunar calendar through official moon sighting. As a result, Eid’l Fit’r will be observed on Saturday, March 21, 2026, marking the end of the holy month of fasting.
With the announcement, Muslims across the country are expected to observe one more day of fasting before celebrating Eid, a significant religious occasion that symbolizes gratitude, spiritual renewal, and communal unity. The extension of Ramadan to a full 30 days aligns with Islamic tradition when the crescent moon marking the next month is not visible.
The Bangsamoro Government extended advance greetings of Eid Mubarak to the Muslim Ummah, expressing hopes that the values nurtured during Ramadan—faith, gratitude, compassion, and generosity—will continue to guide believers beyond the holy month.
Eid’l Fit’r is one of the most important celebrations in Islam, marked by communal prayers, family gatherings, charitable giving, and expressions of forgiveness and goodwill.
