CEBU CITY — Consumers craving seafood can expect relatively stable prices across public markets in Cebu this March 2026, as authorities continue their regular monitoring efforts amid rising fuel costs and inflation.

Based on the latest price monitoring conducted by the Cebu City Government’s Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries, several commonly consumed fish varieties maintain moderate price levels. Lapu-lapu is currently sold at ₱340.00 per kilo, while katambak is priced slightly higher at ₱360.00. Ketong and bilason are both available at ₱340.00, with tarorot reaching ₱400.00 per kilo. Pompano remains among the higher-priced options at ₱450.00 per kilo.

Other popular fish such as maya-maya and mamsa are being sold at ₱380.00 per kilo, while more affordable options like hinok are priced at ₱200.00 and tulingan at ₱240.00 per kilo.

Seafood selections also include pasayan (shrimp) at ₱480.00 per kilo, making it one of the most expensive items in the latest monitoring. Meanwhile, tabangko, tilapia, and oyabang are priced at ₱200.00 per kilo, offering budget-friendly alternatives for consumers. Bangus, a staple in many Filipino households, is currently sold at ₱260.00 per kilo.

Despite the continued increase in fuel prices and other essential commodities, local authorities assure the public that price monitoring remains strict and consistent. The initiative aims to prevent overpricing and ensure that seafood products remain accessible to Cebuano consumers.

Officials emphasized that regular inspections in public markets will continue as part of efforts to protect both vendors and buyers, while maintaining fair trade practices across the city.
