Members of PISTON Cebu and various sectors staged a transport strike on Friday, March 27, in Mabolo, Cebu City, calling for urgent government action to address the continuing fuel crisis.

The group reiterated its five-point demand, which includes the rollback of oil prices to ₱55 per liter based on existing oil stocks, removal of VAT and excise taxes to cut pump prices by around ₱20 per liter, implementation of a ₱5 fare increase alongside a ₱1,200 national minimum wage, abolition of the Oil Deregulation Law, and the nationalization of Petron and the oil industry to ensure stable supply and affordable fuel prices.

PISTON Cebu emphasized that the rising cost of fuel continues to heavily impact drivers and commuters, prompting transport groups to take collective action. The strike caused disruptions in several routes, affecting daily commuters in parts of the city.

The group urged the government to immediately address their demands, stressing that long-term solutions are needed to protect the welfare of both transport workers and the riding public.
