The Mandaue City Government, in partnership with the Department of the Interior and Local Government Central Visayas (DILG 7), has turned over a Level 3 Potable Water Supply Facility in Barangay Labogon to provide clean and safe drinking water to residents of three sitios.

The newly completed facility is expected to benefit communities in Sitio Sto. Niño, Mahayahay, and Latasan, addressing long-standing concerns over access to a reliable water supply, especially during the dry season.

The turnover ceremony was held Friday, March 27, led by DILG-7 Regional Director Leocadio Trovela, together with Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano and DILG Mandaue City Director Jerome Gonzales.

In his message, Ouano underscored the importance of ensuring access to potable water, noting that the project comes at a crucial time as temperatures rise.

“Access to clean and safe water is essential, especially now that the summer season has begun,” Ouano said.

He added that the project was made possible through collaboration among the national government, DILG, the city government, and barangay officials.

Ouano also urged residents to help maintain the facility to ensure its sustainability and continued benefit to the community.

Barangay Labogon Captain Helbert Nejana expressed gratitude for the project, saying it addresses previous challenges in accessing clean water and reflects the local government’s commitment to improving public health and living conditions.

Also present during the ceremony were DILG-7 officials led by Trovela, including Project Development and Monitoring Division Chief Atty. Rommel Correa, Engr. Archie Garson, and Engr. Nestor Candidato, along with representatives from the City Planning and Development Office, the City Engineer’s Office, and members of the Sangguniang Barangay of Labogon. (VCL)
