A Filipino national was killed in a missile attack in Israel on April 5 as tensions in the Middle East continue, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed Tuesday.
The Filipina died alongside her Israeli husband and elderly parents-in-law inside a residence in Haifa on Sunday evening.
Authorities did not release further details about the victim.
The DFA said the victim’s next of kin had been informed and that the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv is extending assistance to the bereaved family.
“The family requests privacy at this difficult time to grieve in peace. We join the Filipino community in praying for her eternal rest and for strength for her family during this time of profound loss,” the DFA said.
The agency added that the embassy is arranging for the earliest possible repatriation of her remains despite the current travel situation in the region.
The DFA said this is the second Filipino killed in a missile attack in Israel since the country mounted a joint military operation with the United States targeting Iran’s nuclear sites and leadership, which prompted retaliatory strikes from Tehran.
