The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas has moved to deepen coordination with a major transport group in Cebu following a courtesy meeting held on April 8, 2026.
LTO 7 Regional Director Atty. Wendel Dinglasan met with representatives of Pagkakaisa ng mga Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (PISTON) Cebu to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at improving the overall transport system for both operators and the riding public.
Dinglasan said the discussion centered on strengthening ties between the agency and the transport sector to help ensure smoother and more efficient mobility services in Cebu.
“We are very glad to meet with the representatives of PISTON Cebu to strengthen our ties and establish a better transportation network for the benefit of the public,” Dinglasan said.
The meeting also covered operational concerns involving public utility jeepneys (PUJs), including common violations observed in Cebu and the corresponding settlement arrangements being implemented by the agency.
LTO 7 said the dialogue allowed both sides to raise issues affecting drivers and operators, while also identifying possible areas of cooperation in enforcement and compliance.
Among the topics discussed was the proposal for a dedicated lane for settlement transactions involving public utility drivers, which the agency said it will consider as part of efforts to improve service delivery and ease administrative processes.
“A dedicated lane for settlement transactions for public utility drivers was also discussed, and we will certainly take it into consideration, knowing that they are essential to the general public,” Dinglasan added.
LTO 7 emphasized that it continues to engage transport stakeholders as part of its commitment to balanced enforcement and public service, noting the importance of maintaining open communication with groups operating in the transport sector.
The agency also said the partnership approach aims to help address concerns on compliance while recognizing the role of drivers and operators in sustaining daily mobility needs in Cebu.
PISTON Cebu Chairperson Greg Perez and other officials attended the courtesy meeting.
