Flames tore through a densely packed compound in Cebu City late Monday afternoon, displacing dozens of residents and injuring two people.
A fire hit a residential area along V. Rama St. in Quijano Compound, Barangay Calamba at around 4:39 p.m. on April 13, affecting multiple households and damaging several structures.
The Cebu City Fire Station said the blaze reached first alarm status at 4:40 p.m., just a minute after the first unit arrived at the scene, located about 1.3 kilometers from the station.
Firefighters placed the fire under control by 4:56 p.m. and declared it out at 5:09 p.m.
Initial reports showed that nine residential structures were burned, affecting about 19 families or 48 individuals.
Authorities said the fire involved a residential property owned and occupied by Rolito Flores, with an estimated damage of P375,000.
Two individuals sustained injuries during the incident.
Ivy Banico, 28, and Jocelyn Banico, 58, both suffered first-degree burns on their upper and lower extremities.
A total of 12 Bureau of Fire Protection personnel responded to the scene, assisted by auxiliary responders and one ambulance unit.
The fire affected an estimated 250 square meters of area.
No fatalities were reported.
