A simple flower vendor in Cebu City is now touching the hearts of many after his story went viral online.
Robert Gaya, 45 years old, quietly sells fresh flowers for only ₱50 each along busy streets in the city. Many people recently spotted him outside the gates of University of San Jose Recoletos, patiently waiting under the heat and amidst the rush of students and commuters.
In an interview with Proud Bisaya Bai photo blogger, Robert shared that his spot outside USJR is not permanent. Depending on the day and where sales are better, he sometimes transfers to areas near Gaisano South Capital to continue selling flowers.
Robert is from Tabo Banay, near Jollibee at the back of Metro Colon. Despite life’s challenges, he continues to work hard to make ends meet. For him, every flower sold helps provide food and daily necessities.
He also shared that he has a child currently living in Cagayan de Oro, adding another reason for him to persevere each day.
For many, ₱50 may only buy a simple bouquet. But for Robert, it could mean a meal, transportation fare, or another day surviving in the city.
His story reminds everyone that kindness does not always have to be grand. Sometimes, helping someone can be as simple as buying a flower.
