Fares for both passengers and vehicles traveling to Santa Fe Island in the northern island of Cebu  will be reduced starting May 11, 2026.

Aznar Shipping, Island Shipping, and Shuttle Ferry announced the fare rollback following a four-hour meeting with the Maritime Industry Authority Region VII, ferry operators, and the local government of Santa Fe.

The move was made in response to a resolution filed by James Philip “Jaypee” Lao addressing public complaints over high transportation costs.

Local residents, especially those from the island, welcomed the development as they have struggled with expensive fares. One resident said, “I hope fares will be reduced because life has become very difficult due to high costs.”

Officials said the fare reduction is expected to benefit both residents and tourists, particularly during peak travel seasons.
