Nearly two million government employees, including military and uniformed personnel, will begin receiving their 2026 midyear bonus starting Friday, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced.

The DBM said a total of P73.456 billion has been allocated for the release of the benefit, which covers workers in national government agencies, local government units, and other government offices.

The payout aligns with the administration’s program to recognize public servants’ role in government service delivery.

DBM Acting Secretary Rolando Toledo said the funds were released early in the fiscal year to ensure timely distribution of the bonus.

“Tiniyak ng DBM na maagang nailabas ang kinakailangang pondo upang hindi maantala ang pagbibigay ng benepisyong ito,” Toledo said.

He added that the processing and actual release of the bonus will be handled by each respective agency.

“Nasa hurisdiksyon na ng kani-kanilang ahensya ang aktwal na pagproseso at pagpapalabas ng Mid-Year Bonus para sa kanilang mga kwalipikadong personnel,” he said.

Under existing DBM rules, the midyear bonus is equivalent to one month basic salary of qualified government employees.

To be eligible, employees must have rendered at least four months of service from July 1 of the previous year up to May 15 of the current year, must still be in government service as of May 15, and must have received at least a satisfactory performance rating.

Service coverage includes regular, contractual, and casual employees, as well as periods of paid leave.

For local government units, the release will depend on approval from their respective sanggunians and compliance with DBM guidelines.

Toledo said the release reflects the government’s recognition of workers across all sectors of public service.

“Mula sa mga guro, nurse, sundalo, pulis, kawani ng gobyerno, hanggang sa mga nasa likod ng araw-araw na operasyon ng pamahalaan—ang bonus na ito ay simpleng pasasalamat ng gobyerno,” he said.
