Don Lemon Philippines gives refreshments to Tejero fire victims

Families temporarily staying at Tejero Elementary School continue to receive relief assistance following the fire incident that struck Sitio Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero at around 7:20 p.m. on May 16, 2026.

Based on updated reports, the fire affected a total of 115 houses and displaced 218 families or around 833 individuals. Of the affected structures, 93 houses were totally damaged while 9 were partially damaged. Authorities also recorded 78 sharers, 38 renters, and 8 lodgers among the affected residents.

Don Lemon Philippines, headed by Ariel Alegado, distributed 500 cups of refreshing lemon drinks to fire victims, while food packs were provided by other private sector groups and donors. The company also recently extended assistance to fire victims in Bulacao last week by providing free drinks to affected families.

The relief operation was guided by Nyza “Nice” Archival together with volunteers and donors extending support to affected residents currently taking shelter at the evacuation center located at the Tejero Elementary School Gym.

Authorities have already conducted registration and validation of internally displaced persons (IDPs), while the Cebu City Government continues providing packed meals and assistance to victims. Recommendations were also made for financial assistance under the disaster quick response fund, along with additional relief goods, housing materials, and assorted necessities for affected families.

Councilor Archival also reminded fellow Cebuanos to always unplug electrical appliances and inspect electrical wiring before leaving their homes, emphasizing that faulty electrical connections remain among the leading causes of fire incidents.
