Russian delegation to join Mandaue cultural night on May 27

A Russian delegation is expected to take part in the “Mandaue Cultural and Heritage Night” on May 27 at the Mandaue Heritage Plaza, as part of the city’s Mid-Year Cultural Summit activities.

Organizers said around 40 to 50 delegates are expected to arrive for the event, including members of a Russian cultural ensemble and representatives from various countries.

The activity forms part of Mandaue City’s broader efforts to strengthen cultural exchange and promote heritage appreciation through international participation.

Russia’s Honorary Consul to Cebu, Armi Garcia, confirmed the planned visit during a meeting on Friday, May 15, with Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo “Jonkie” Ouano.

The upcoming event is being coordinated by the Mandaue Investment Promotions Tourism Action Center (MIPTAC), headed by Executive Director Kristian Marc Cabahug. The office is overseeing preparations for the cultural night, including coordination with participating groups and visiting delegates.

During the meeting, discussions also included plans to highlight local products and delicacies as part of the city’s hospitality efforts for foreign guests.

Among those mentioned was Tabléa Chocolate Café, which is expected to be featured alongside other Mandaue-made products as part of the cultural showcase.

Officials also raised the possibility of introducing Russian language training for tourism personnel.

The proposal is intended to improve communication with Russian visitors and further support cultural exchange initiatives between Mandaue City and visiting delegations.

City officials said preparations are underway for performances and reception activities for the visiting group.

A special presentation from the Russian cultural ensemble is also expected to be part of the program, highlighting the exchange of cultural traditions during the event. (VCL)
