Production company says Sinulog Foundation owes over P2 million

A Cebu-based production company has called on the Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) to settle an alleged unpaid balance of more than P2 million for services rendered during Sinulog 2024, claiming that repeated follow-ups over the past two years have remained unanswered.

Junjet’s Productions, through Senior Production Manager Demosthenes Jimenez and proprietor Engr. Patricio E. Primor Jr., formally raised the issue in a letter addressed to SFI President Engr. Pericles Dakay and Executive Director Elmer “Jojo” Labella.

The company sought payment of an alleged remaining balance amounting to P2.074 million for production services provided during “Sinulog sa Sugbo Philippines 2024 (Still One Cebu Island).”

According to the letter, the total production cost reached P3.074 million, of which only P1 million had allegedly been released as cash advance.

“We would like to kindly request the processing of payment for the total amount of Three Million Seventy-Four Thousand Pesos (P3,074,000.00) covering the events, less the cash advance of One Million Pesos (P1,000,000.00), resulting in a net payable amount of Two Million Seventy-Four Thousand Pesos (P2,074,000.00),” the letter stated.

A receiving stamp attached to the billing document indicated that it was received by SFI support staff member Charles Pintulan on Oct. 16, 2025.

In a separate online statement, Junjet’s Productions expressed frustration over what it described as unresolved follow-ups dating back to 2024.

“We are writing to formally express our concern regarding the absence of response to our repeated follow-ups gikan pa sa 2024, 2025, hangtod karong 2026,” the company said.

The production firm said it had complied with all requirements and aligned its work with the Sinulog Foundation’s theme, “Sinulog: United in Faith and Love,” but claimed it had yet to receive updates regarding the alleged unpaid balance.

The company also said it advanced operational expenses, including staff salaries and production costs, to complete the project on schedule.

“Our production company has invested significant time, effort, and resources aron matuman ang inyong mga requirements, lakip na ang pag-advance sa bayad sa among mga staff aron ma-meet ang inyong timeline,” the statement added.

Junjet’s Productions described the delay as financially burdensome and “dili na makatarungan,” or no longer reasonable.

The company also shared the frustrations of production personnel involved in the event preparations.

“Na initan, na uwanan, na singtan, na ughan, na buntagan… sobra na ang pag-antos namo,” part of the statement read.

As of posting time, Labella had yet to issue a response regarding the allegations and the status of the payment.

The Sinulog Foundation has also not released an official statement addressing the claims raised by the production company.
