CEBU CITY — A Cebuano clubgoer has come forward with a cautionary story after allegedly becoming a victim of theft while attending a party at a nightclub in Cebu City two weeks ago.
According to the individual, he was enjoying the evening with friends and spending time on the dance floor when an unfamiliar woman reportedly approached him, joined him in dancing, and later offered him a shot of alcohol.
The clubgoer recalled accepting the drink, believing it was part of the friendly atmosphere inside the establishment. However, he later became suspicious after discovering the following morning that his iPhone 14 Pro Max had gone missing.
More alarmingly, he said he found that his pants had been slashed, resulting in a small cut on his leg. Despite the apparent damage, he claimed he did not feel anything unusual while the incident was taking place.
The victim speculated that the drink may have contained an unknown substance, although there is currently no independent evidence confirming this claim. He also alleged that the woman and her companions may have been involved in the theft, based on the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He noted that several valuables remained untouched, including the key fob for his motorcycle, his wallet containing credit cards, and his smartwatch. This led him to believe that the theft likely occurred while he was on the crowded dance floor rather than outside the venue.
The incident has since been reported to local authorities. The victim also coordinated with the nightclub management to review available CCTV footage. However, he said initial recordings were difficult to analyze due to lighting conditions inside the club. Additional footage from cameras outside the establishment is reportedly still being reviewed.
Despite the loss of his phone, the individual expressed gratitude that the incident did not result in more serious harm. He emphasized that the experience serves as an important reminder for partygoers to remain vigilant, secure their belongings, and avoid accepting drinks from strangers.
Authorities continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activities and practice caution while attending crowded events and nightlife venues.
The victim is also asking the public to notify him if they encounter anyone attempting to sell an iPhone 14 Pro Max in purple, which he believes may be his stolen device.
