The Senate formally received Vice President Sara Duterte’s official response to the Articles of Impeachment on June 1, 2026, marking a significant procedural development in the ongoing impeachment proceedings.
Senate Secretary and Impeachment Court Clerk Jose Luis Montales personally accepted the documents in the afternoon. The submission was delivered by the Vice President’s legal team, headed by Atty. Michael Poa, and consisted of several boxes containing her formal answer to the impeachment complaint.
In addition to the printed documents, the legal team also submitted a USB drive containing electronic copies of the response. Senate records show that the documents were officially received and logged at 4:35 p.m.
The filing represents a key step in the impeachment process, as it formally places the Vice President’s response on record before the Senate acting as an impeachment court.
The submission comes as preparations continue for the next stages of the proceedings, with both parties expected to present their respective arguments and evidence in accordance with the rules governing impeachment trials.
