The death toll from the devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao has risen to 45, while hundreds have been injured and several others remain missing, according to the latest casualty report released by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
As of 6:00 a.m. on June 10, 2026, authorities have recorded 45 fatalities, 630 injured individuals, and 17 persons still reported missing in areas affected by the powerful quake.
Search, rescue, and retrieval operations remain ongoing as emergency responders continue to work around the clock in an effort to locate missing residents and provide assistance to communities severely impacted by the disaster.
Authorities are also conducting damage assessments in affected provinces and cities, with reports indicating extensive destruction to homes, public buildings, schools, roads, and other critical infrastructure. Several communities continue to face challenges due to disrupted electricity, water supply, and communication services.
Government agencies, local government units, and humanitarian organizations have intensified relief efforts, delivering food packs, potable water, medical assistance, and temporary shelter to displaced families.
The Office of Civil Defense has urged residents to remain vigilant as aftershocks continue to be monitored across the region. Officials warned that additional tremors may occur in the coming days and advised the public to follow safety protocols and evacuation advisories issued by local authorities.
Despite the difficult conditions, rescue teams remain hopeful as operations continue in affected areas. Authorities expect casualty figures and damage reports to change as more information becomes available from remote and isolated communities.
