A 62-year-old alleged high-value individual (HVI) was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Subangdaku, Mandaue City, which also yielded about P340,000 worth of suspected shabu.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Bossing,” a married resident of Back Matimco, Barangay Subangdaku, was arrested on June 6, 2026, at around 6:06 p.m. along Mantawe Drive.
The operation was conducted by personnel of the City Intelligence Unit (CIU) and City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) of the Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO), in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
MCPO City Director Police Colonel Cirilo Acosta Jr. said operatives recovered 10 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated weight of 50 grams.
“Nakadakop ang atoang mga operatiba from the city drug enforcement unit og usa ka senior citizen nga gipanganlan og ‘Bossing’ kung asa ta nakakuha ta og 50 grams through buy-bust operation,” Acosta said.
He said the confiscated drugs had a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of approximately P340,000.
Acosta added that the suspect had a previous drug-related record.
According to him, Bossing was arrested in 2006 for violation of Section 11 of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and was later imprisoned.
He said the suspect was acquitted in 2014 but allegedly returned to illegal drug activities afterward.
“From there, hinay-hinay siya nakabalik sa ingon ani. Karon, nasikop na gyud nato siya,” Acosta said.
Authorities said the suspect allegedly sold illegal drugs through contacts and acquaintances.
Acosta said Bossing was classified as a high-value individual due to his alleged involvement in drug distribution and prior incarceration.
“Pag 2014 acquit na siya, but then again, nakita man nato nga nibalik jud siya sa dating gawi niya,” he said.
He added that the suspect’s operation reportedly involved a group, although further investigation is ongoing.
“Karon di palang namo ma-divulge ang pangalan kay padayon pa gihapon ang amoang operation,” he said.
The suspect will face charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, which cover illegal sale and possession of dangerous drugs.
The seized evidence has been turned over for laboratory examination, while the suspect remains in police custody pending the filing of charges.
