Warm, humid weather expected across PH

Most parts of the country will continue to experience warm and humid conditions with isolated rain showers on Thursday, while the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is still affecting portions of northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said no low pressure area is being monitored that could develop into a tropical cyclone.

In a weather forecast, PAGASA weather specialist Leanne Loreto said the country remains under generally fair weather conditions, although localized thunderstorms may still trigger sudden rain in several areas.

The southwest monsoon is currently affecting the western section of northern Luzon and is expected to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas may result in flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous communities.

For the rest of the country, weather conditions will be largely driven by localized thunderstorms, bringing brief but sometimes heavy rain showers in the afternoon or evening.

Despite the unsettled weather pattern in some areas, temperatures are expected to remain high. PAGASA said Tuguegarao City may reach up to 35°C, while Metro Manila and Legazpi City could see temperatures of up to 34°C.

The combination of heat and humidity is expected to persist throughout the day, with only intermittent relief from rainfall in affected areas.

In terms of wind and sea conditions, moderate winds and moderate coastal waters will prevail over northern Luzon.

Elsewhere in the country, winds are expected to remain light to moderate, with sea conditions ranging from slight to moderate, making marine travel generally manageable but still requiring caution for small vessels.

PAGASA continues to advise the public to stay alert for sudden weather changes, particularly in areas prone to thunderstorms and flooding, as warm and unstable atmospheric conditions persist.
