CEBU CITY, Philippines — Thousands of users across different parts of the world reported being unexpectedly logged out of their Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger accounts on the evening of June 12, 2026, sparking concerns about a possible platform outage or security issue.
Many users took to social media to share their experiences after suddenly losing access to their accounts and being prompted to log in again. The unexpected logout left some users worried that their accounts had been hacked, while others struggled to remember their passwords and regain access.
Reports of similar issues quickly surfaced online, with affected users noting disruptions on other platforms under Meta.
In response to the incident, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the issue and assured users that the company was working to restore normal service.
“We’re working on it,” Stone said following widespread reports of access problems affecting Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and other Meta-owned platforms on Friday.
As the issue unfolded, cybersecurity experts and online safety advocates reminded users to remain vigilant and avoid sharing passwords, login credentials, or one-time passwords (OTPs) with anyone claiming to offer assistance.
While Meta has yet to release detailed information regarding the cause of the disruption, users are advised to monitor official announcements and verify any updates through legitimate company channels.
The incident once again highlights the extent to which millions of people rely on Meta’s platforms for communication, business transactions, and social interaction, making even temporary disruptions widely felt across communities.
As of posting time, some users reported that their accounts had returned to normal, while others continued to experience login-related issues.
Proud Bisaya Bai will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more information becomes available.
