Transport authorities in Central Visayas have intensified a field-based campaign that brings license plate verification and release services directly to motorists, with personnel now placing notices on vehicles identified as having available replacement plates.
The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO 7) has widened its Aggressive Plate Replacement Campaign one week after its rollout on June 15, deploying teams across communities to locate vehicles with pending plates, verify records, and coordinate immediate release through district offices.
Instead of waiting for motorists to claim plates at offices, field personnel are now conducting on-site identification, particularly focusing on vehicles still using old green plates, and leaving notices informing owners of claim procedures and locations.
LTO 7 Director Atty. Wendel C. Dinglasan said the move is part of efforts to improve accessibility and speed up public service delivery.
“Many of our motorists are unaware that their replacement plates are already available. That is why we will no longer wait for them to come to the LTO,” Dinglasan said on Monday, June 22.
He said the campaign is designed to ensure that all available plates in government custody are matched and released to rightful owners without delay.
“We will go directly to the communities, locate vehicles with available replacement plates, and leave information so owners can claim them easily,” he added.
The field initiative aligns with earlier central office directives requiring all LTO units to automatically check plate availability during renewals and related transactions, allowing immediate release whenever possible.
District offices, extension offices, mobile units, inspection teams, and the Visayas Plate Courier and Distribution Hub have been ordered to maintain updated inventories and coordinate transfers to prevent backlog buildup.
The campaign covers replacement plates paid for as early as 2015, as well as motorcycles still using outdated green plates that are now being replaced with standardized black-and-white plates.
LTO 7 said the expanded operations aim to reduce unclaimed inventories and improve distribution efficiency across Central Visayas.
Motorists were also reminded to comply with the July 31 deadline for renewal of driver’s licenses, student permits, and vehicle registrations, following an earlier extension that waived penalties for late renewals.
