CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has raised a thunderstorm advisory over several areas in Cebu as moderate to heavy rainshowers, accompanied by lightning and strong winds, continue to affect parts of the province.
In Thunderstorm Advisory No. 18 issued at 1:59 p.m. on Monday, June 22, PAGASA said moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over the municipalities of Catmon and Balamban, as well as Toledo City and Lapu-Lapu City, within the next 30 minutes to one hour.
Meanwhile, heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are already being experienced in Talisay City, Minglanilla, Cebu City, Carmen, Danao City, Compostela, Liloan, Mandaue City, and Consolacion. These weather conditions may persist for the next one to two hours and could extend to nearby areas, PAGASA added.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant against possible flash floods, landslides, and other weather-related hazards, especially those living in low-lying and landslide-prone communities.
Motorists are likewise urged to exercise caution due to reduced visibility and slippery road conditions brought about by the inclement weather.
PAGASA continues to monitor the situation and advised the public to stay updated through official weather bulletins and advisories.
