The families of students killed in the June 22 shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City will each receive P150,000 in financial assistance, Malacañang announced on Tuesday.
Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said the financial aid will be extended to the families of the three students who died in the incident.
“Each family of those who died will be given financial assistance of P150,000,” Castro said in a statement.
The fatal shooting left three students dead and 20 others injured after two minors, aged 14 and 15, allegedly opened fire inside classrooms.
Authorities said 15 victims sustained gunshot wounds while five others were injured after jumping to safety amid the chaos.
Castro said the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Health (DOH) will also provide psychosocial support services to students, families, and other individuals affected by the incident.
Initial police investigation indicated that the suspects had been planning the attack as early as April or May.
Reports also noted that one of the suspects was allegedly an avid player of the mobile game GoreBox, which features graphic violence and weapon-based gameplay. Authorities are looking into possible factors that may have influenced the incident.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has expressed grief over the shooting and ordered a thorough investigation.
