Severe Tropical Storm Francisco has officially exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), while another weather disturbance, Severe Tropical Storm Gardo, entered the country’s monitoring area late Thursday, June 25, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
In its 5:00 a.m. weather bulletin on Friday, June 26, PAGASA reported that Gardo was located approximately 1,280 kilometers east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.
The weather system was packing maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour near the center, with gustiness reaching up to 115 kilometers per hour. It was moving west northwestward at a speed of 25 kilometers per hour.
Despite entering the PAR, PAGASA said Gardo is forecast to move quickly and may exit the country’s monitoring area by Friday morning or afternoon.
Meanwhile, Francisco, which had previously affected parts of Northern Luzon, has already left the PAR and continues to move away from the country.
PAGASA advised the public, especially residents in areas that may be affected by changing weather conditions, to remain vigilant and monitor official weather bulletins for updates.
