SM Seaside Cebu Arena seen to boost Visayas entertainment, tourism, economic activity

A new entertainment and events venue in Cebu is expected to expand the region’s capacity to host large-scale concerts, sports, and live shows, while supporting tourism and related industries across the Visayas.

The SM Seaside Cebu Arena, located within the South Coast City development along the South Road Properties (SRP), is positioned as part of SM’s broader network of lifestyle and commercial destinations in Cebu, including SM City Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu, and SM J Mall.

SM Supermalls President Steven Tan said the company’s developments in Cebu are designed to grow alongside local communities.

“Cebu has always been a place of immense potential, and our goal has been to create destinations that grow with the communities around them. Beyond providing spaces for retail and entertainment, we want to build platforms where people can connect, businesses can thrive, and new opportunities can emerge,” Tan said.

The arena is directly connected to SM Seaside City Cebu through a dedicated bridgeway, allowing visitors to move between retail, dining, and event spaces within the integrated complex.

Once operational, the facility is expected to host international concerts, sporting events, and other large-scale entertainment activities, positioning Cebu as a key venue for major productions outside Metro Manila.

According to SM, the development is also expected to generate wider economic activity, with increased demand for accommodation, transport services, food establishments, retail, and other tourism-related businesses as events draw visitors to the city.

The company said the arena forms part of its continued expansion in Cebu, reinforcing what it described as long-term investments in destinations that support tourism, business activity, and employment opportunities in the region.

SM Supermalls, which operates malls in the Philippines and China, said its developments are designed as evolving spaces that respond to community needs and changing lifestyles.
