The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts that up to four tropical cyclones may develop or enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this July, as the country remains in the peak of the cyclone season.
The weather bureau said this number is within the normal range for July, a month that usually sees increased cyclone activity due to favorable conditions. These cyclones may damage crops, strain infrastructure through flooding and power outages, and disrupt daily life with transportation delays and class or work suspensions.
PAGASA urged the public to monitor official weather bulletins and advisories, especially those in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and strong winds, as these disturbances may bring heavy rain and severe weather. Residents are also advised to secure their homes, prepare emergency kits, and regularly monitor updates to stay safe during severe weather events.
The agency also reminded local government units and disaster response teams to stay prepared and continue monitoring weather developments throughout the month.
