Virtual Assistant Tops Filipinos’ Dream Jobs

Virtual assistant has emerged as the most sought-after dream job among Filipinos, overtaking doctor, according to a recent global study by financial services company Remitly.

The study shows a shift in career aspirations toward digital and remote opportunities, reflecting the growing influence of the online economy and flexible work arrangements.

Aside from virtual assistant, other top dream jobs include doctor, vlogger, content creator, and social media manager—highlighting a mix of traditional professions and digitally driven careers.

Remitly based its findings on Google search data gathered between May 2025 and May 2026, analyzing career-related trends across 145 countries to identify the most desired professions in each nation.

The results mark a notable change from previous Remitly rankings in 2022 and 2024, when doctor consistently topped the list among Filipinos.

The rise of virtual assistant reflects the expansion of the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector, growing demand for remote administrative support, and the appeal of freelance work with flexible schedules and access to international clients. According to labor economist Maria Santos, “The surge in virtual assistant roles is driven by global businesses seeking cost-efficient, skilled remote talent, and Filipinos are uniquely positioned to meet that demand due to their strong communication skills and adaptability.”

The study also highlights the growing appeal of the creator economy, with professions such as vlogger, content creator, and social media manager gaining traction as more Filipinos pursue digital media and online entrepreneurship.

While traditional professions remain respected, the findings suggest that digital careers are becoming increasingly attractive as technology reshapes employment opportunities in the Philippines.
